Free membership Public Library
You can find the Public Library in Pijpenstraat, in the heart of Enschede. As a holder of the Xtra-Card, you are automatically a library member.
Here are just some of the benefits of membership:
- borrow novels, informative works, audio books, sheet music and magazines free of charge
- borrow CDs free of charge (extra subscription no longer required)
- borrow DVDs for a small fee
- read Dutch and international newspapers and magazines while enjoying a cup of coffee
- use the library’s wireless Internet network, the Bieb-spot, with your own laptop
- for relaxation, have a go on the library's Wii station, which features a range of games.
- use digital workstations equipped with Internet, word processing facilities, scanner, MSN, SKYPE, CD burner, fax service and a Bieb-spot wireless Internet connection.
- access dozens of databanks, including PressDisplay, which contains over 500 newspapers from 70 countries in 40 languages, full text in its original layout, up to date and with an archive up to 60 days.
If you do not live near the centre of Enschede, never fear! The library also has branches in Stadsveld, Twekkelerveld, Zuid and Glanerbrug. And in Noord a Biebbox has been installed at the Prismare shopping centre, a public computer access point which allows you to order books at the Central Library. The books you order will then be delivered to the service desk at Prismare for you to collect. You can also return your books to the service desk.
